Articles
and Tips to Improve Your Online Business
Simple Steps to an
Internet Cashflow...
(Part 2 of 5)
By now you should have signed up for at least one
good affiliate program that meets the criteria laid
out in part 1 of this course.
Step 2 involves setting up an email autoresponder
course (yep, a course just like this one) that
tastefully plugs the affiliate program you're
participating in.
Now, your affiliate program operator MAY have a
ready-made autoresponder course that you can use...
If you've chosen to become a PBP affiliate, you
have full reprint rights to THIS course (-only- to
be used for the purpose of promoting PBP).
Now, if your program operator doesn't offer a ready
made email course, you can do one of several
things...
You might be able to locate a course with reprint
rights (which you may have to purchase) with a
course topic that relates to the type of product or
service you're promoting as an affiliate.
(To find potential courses, do a search on
Google.com for "autoresponder course with reprint
rights", "email courses with reprint rights", etc.,
combining these phrases with the specific course
topic you're looking for.)
...Most of the courses you'll come up with are
ALREADY designed to promote certain affiliate
programs, in which case you can usually sign up for
those programs and insert your OWN affiliate links.
But our goal here is to come up with a way to
promote the program YOU have specifically
selected...
Here's how it's done:
You can promote YOUR affiliate program by including
a short, 6-10 line classified ad at the top of each
part of the course.
Here's an example of how that ad might look (noting
that this ad would appear at the top of the page
with each course segment that gets sent out):

Now, if you were using the sample ad above, you'd
ideally want to use it in conjunction with a course
that dealt with the topic of writing effective sales
letters or ad copy.
Another way to plug your affiliate program is by
placing a resource box or your "sig file"
(essentially one in the same) at the END of each
article in your course. See the bottom of this
article for an example of a resource box.
I should note that with *either* of the methods of
promotion above, you will need to contact the author
of the email course that you acquired the reprint
rights to, to determine if it is acceptable to
modify their course in this manner. (Most
publications are still copyright protected, even
when you've obtained reprint rights.)
The final option is writing your own course. Your
affiliate program operator may not offer a ready
made email/autoresponder course to use in promoting
their web-site, AND you may not be able to find a
good course with reprint rights that relates to the
product(s) you're promoting as an affiliate.
...If that's the case, you will most likely need to
write your own course. (...Unless you're willing and
able to hire a ghostwriter to write your course for
you. You can find a suitable ghostwriter on
elance.com.)
Now, when writing your own course, it should
obviously be centered around a topic you enjoy and
have sufficient knowledge of... And this being the
case, you'll need to make sure you've chosen
affiliate programs that relate to and compliment the
chosen topic of your course. (Another great place to
look for good affiliate programs can be found here:
http://www.clickbank.com.)
To get your creative juices flowing, here are a few
examples of course topics:
1. If you enjoy golf, you might write a 5 part
course on how you personally knocked "x" amount of
strokes off your average score in "x" amount of
time. People love stories, so tell the story of how
YOU improved, and how others can do the same.
2. Are you a bargain hunter? Write a course telling
people how you save hundreds each month on "the
necessities". Tell them where and how you
consistently find name brand clothing at a fraction
of retail cost. Reveal how you're able to snatch
some of the best deals and lowest winning bids on
eBay. Etc.
3. Are you a musician? Write a course telling how
to become a virtuoso at a particular instrument, or
how to land "gigs" at prominent clubs and other
venues, how to come up with winning song ideas, the
list goes on.
Choose a topic that you can write at least 3-5
parts around, with 400-500 words per part.
If writing your own course you can use THIS course
and/or others as an example. Your course must be
informative and interesting, holding the attention
of the reader. But don't forget YOUR main purpose is
to integrate tasteful plugs for your affiliate
program throughout the course. Here are a few
additional tips for writing your own 3-7 part email
autoresponder course (training course, success
course, etc):
1. Write as though you're talking to a friend.
2. Whenever possible, order and review the product
you are plugging throughout the course so that
you're able to offer a fair and personal endorsement
of it.
3. Write the course in your email client (such as
Outlook Express), and make sure to Save the course
as you go along.
4. Keep your lines short - no longer than 60
characters, hitting "return" at the end of each
line.
5. Don't overdo it with the plugs for your
affiliate program(s). Try to integrate them
naturally into what you're writing.
6. You may do best to write one longer article, and
then simply separate the finished article into
parts.
7. Write a rough draft at first, without worrying
so much about spelling and grammar. Then come back,
use your spell check, locate errors, etc.
8. Have another person read through your course and
address any areas where they are confused, or have
trouble with.
9. Stories are very powerful. You may find it
easiest to tell stories that relate to the products
or services you're promoting as an affiliate.
Stories will often hold the attention of your
readers better than general articles or other types
of writing, so use this fact to your advantage if
you can.
10. Be honest and sincere throughout your
letter...And don't write what you're NOT excited
about! Your passion and excitement will show through
in your letter, and ultimately convert to more
sales.
Take comfort in knowing that you really can't "mess
things up" when it comes to writing your course. If
it's not as effective as you like, so what? Simply
go back and make alterations. Ask for feedback from
readers, looking for a common theme in what they
tell you, and go from there.
You'll be distributing your course for FREE, so
it's not like you have refunds or other concerns to
worry about...You really have nothing to lose!
